SCS Releases Annual Report

With 2024 on the horizon, it's the perfect time to reflect on the joys of the past year as we look forward to the excitement of the future. In this spirit, SCS is proud to share our Annual Report. Here are just some of the impacts of our 2022-23 programming:

  • 6700 students served

  • 20 contact hours per student on average

  • 1300 free instruments provided in NYC and Kenya

  • 70% of NYC school partners are Title I schools (indicating a high percentage of economically disadvantaged students)

In NYC, this year's highlights ranged from adapting music lessons for multilingual learners through an Arts Partnership grant to developing a brand new curriculum supported by the National Endowment for the Arts. In Kenya, the MOBJAP school's first prize in the Kenya National Music Festival wasn't the only big win; this past year boasted participation in the prestigious Boston Early Music Festival as well as a record high number of student participants.

While the past year presented many challenges for our partner schools, SCS has been steadfast in its commitment to provide music education of the highest quality to the children of NYC, Kenya, and beyond. We're excited to go from strength to strength in 2024!

As we announced in September, SCS received a $50,000 challenge grant toward our annual giving campaign!

With 17 days left in December, we have $16,500 to go. Help us have a strong finish to 2023 with a tax-deductible donation today!

"S’Cool Sounds provided us with a free, permanent collection of violins to make a violin program possible at our school. The Teaching Artist they sent was a perfect fit for our community—talented, patient, excellent at communicating. He connected so well with our students, several of whom had special needs, and we were all blown away by the final showcase!" (Assistant Principal, PS 24)
