SCS Launches Free Learning Site for Students!

With thriving in-person programs well-established in both New York City and Kenya, S'Cool Sounds has been busy expanding its reach even further—this time, through digital learning. SCS already maintains a website for teachers with over 50 lesson plans from seven different units, freely available to music educators worldwide. Now, students will be able to directly access free instrument lessons themselves by visiting SCS's brand new Learning Site—anytime, anywhere.

Featuring high-quality video lessons taught by SCS Teaching Artists (TAs), the "For Students Learning Site" debuts with a robust recorder unit. This includes tutorials for getting started with the instrument, instructions on how to play different notes, and a set of 10 sequential songs to play with backing tracks. Most of the content was created by veteran SCS TA Ruaridh Pattison ("Mr. Ru"), with additional learning videos provided by SCS's newest TA, Morgan Davison.

Soon, lessons in ukulele, percussion, and other instruments will be added. This suite of self-paced, on-demand learning material will allow students participating in SCS's in-person programs to practice their skills between lessons, and it will also bring our engaging content to a global audience. This could help fill a crucial need for students who do not have access to music education in their school, regardless of their geographic location.

Digital learning is here to stay, and SCS is thrilled to be able to contribute this new portfolio of online lessons for today's students. Check it out today!

As we announced in September, SCS received a $50,000 challenge grant toward our annual giving campaign!

Help us keep expanding our free Learning Site to provide even more content to students worldwide.
