Ukulele for All
With our in-person programs thriving in both New York City and Kenya, S'Cool Sounds (SCS) has been busy expanding its reach even further—this time, through digital learning. SCS already maintains a free website for teachers with over 50 lesson plans from seven different units, plus a self-paced recorder learning site. Now, students of all ages will be able to access our high-quality ukulele lessons—anytime, anywhere!
Featuring sequential video lessons taught by SCS Teaching Artist Juan Manuel Trujillo, the ukulele learning site includes tutorials for getting started with the instrument, instructions on how to play different chords, and a set of 11 sequential songs. Based on our "Strumming Through the Americas" curriculum, the song selections represent diverse styles found throughout the United States and Latin America, from merengue to the blues.
Along with our recorder learning site, this suite of self-paced, on-demand learning materials empowers students participating in SCS's in-person programs to practice their skills between lessons. It also brings our engaging content to a global audience, helping to fill a crucial need for students who do not have access to music education in their school, regardless of their geographic location.
Digital learning is here to stay, and SCS is thrilled to be able to contribute this new portfolio of online lessons for today's students. Check it out today!
