S’Cool Sounds in NYC ‘23-’24: By the Numbers

Collage of students joyfully participating in music classes across NYC

The numbers are in! As the school year wraps up, S'Cool Sounds is thrilled to share some of the impacts of our programs in the New York City Public Schools this year:

  • 6,000 students served (K-12)

  • All 5 boroughs represented

  • 17 contact hours per student, on average

  • 81% of our school partners are Title I schools (high percentage of economically disadvantaged students)

  • 5 completely free pilot programs provided to schools lacking arts budgets

  • $12,000 worth of instruments supplied free, building instrument collections in schools across the city

Thank you to all our Teaching Artists, school partners, and supporters who made another year of fantastic music learning possible in NYC! In spite of budget cuts across the city, the S'Cool Sounds community came together to support thriving music programs for thousands of students. Best wishes for a great summer to all!

KENYA TRIP TAKING OFF SOON

animation of recorder shaped airplane flying from New York to Nairobi across the globe

As summer vacation starts in New York, members of our dedicated staff and board are making their final preparations for the highly-anticipated program building trip to Kenya.

Their bags are packed with many instruments to take to Kenya, thanks to the donations of our many supporters. There is a still a little room in their suitcases, and your contribution can help bring even more to the students of Kenya. Don't delay; the plane takes off on July 1!
