Isaac Levien

Isaac Levien is a bassist, composer, and educator based in Brooklyn, New York. With his fluency and carefully crafted tone on the bass, along with an unquenchable curiosity towards learning new music, Isaac thrives in diverse musical contexts. As an educator Isaac teaches private lessons, classrooms, and masterclasses. In every setting he draws on his experience as a performer to develop each students’ musicality and individual connection to music.

Isaac is an alumnus of New England Conservatory and The Berklee Global Jazz institute and has been selected to participate in the Banff International Workshop for Jazz and Creative Music as well as Betty Carter Jazz Ahead at the Kennedy Center. Isaac performs regularly in an eclectic assortment of projects in and around NYC and has shared the stage with esteemed artists across genres and generations. Isaac is co-founder and bassist of the jazz collective Altus, the bassist in the experimental rock band Clak, and bassist for acclaimed singer-songwriter Elly Kace.

When not immersed in music, Isaac dedicates time to cooking, reading, and enjoying moments of quiet contemplation.
